#01 Large Format Minimalist Surfaces
Luxurious surfaces and finishes in bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and living spaces are still dominating interior design trends 2025. Large format tiles create a distinctive look that elevates the space beyond practical function. This trend creates elegant walls and floors that are more uniform with fewer joints. Thanks to a combination of rectified and large format tiles surfaces are continuous and monolithic. We can see this approach expressed dramatically in ‘material saturation’ where marble effect tiles are used to clad the wall surfaces in a bathroom, including the bath and/or shower enclosure. The look is also trending in matching kitchen countertops and backsplash with a clean stylish aesthetic.

#02 Tactile Finishes & Natural Textures
Interior design trends 2025 are not just about what things look like, they’re also about how things feel. Textures, both visual and tactile, have been ubiquitous at design fairs throughout the year. Dark wood grains and marked marble vein patterns add architectural gravitas to surfaces; velvet, chenille and bouclé fabrics convert upholstery and soft furnishings into a feast of tactile sensations; textured wall coverings catch the light and create a playful game of light and shade. Texture adds dimension to our interiors, from the bedroom to the living room. And textured accessories such as throws, cushions and woven rugs, often in raw organic textiles are also part of this sophisticated trend.

#03 Metallic Furniture, Finishes & Accessories
Metallic finishes and accessories are still on point within interior design trends 2025. Metallics reflect light into a room and catch the eye. Satin finish metallics are replacing silver and chrome for kitchen taps with a warmer more tactile feel. Copper and brass are also going to be more visible throughout the home in the year ahead. Unlacquered brass and matt copper with an aged patina are gathering popularity for faucets and ironmongery. The distressed, lived-in look adds a vintage elegance that lends a cosy warmth to kitchen sinks and bathroom sanitary fittings. The expanded palette of richly coloured metals combined with cooler silver and chrome accessories in living rooms and bedrooms adds visual interest and works well with this year’s colour trends.

#04 Integrated Technology
During 2025 the current trend of making technology invisible within our living spaces will continue apace. The seamless integration of WIFI; doing away with visible cables; adding sensor-controlled lighting; and integrating voice or App controlled utilities will radically alter the feel of our interior spaces. Our homes are going to become even more versatile than they are already. With the help of furniture and lighting, storage and designer hardware, new technology is going to be ever more present but less intrusive visually. Our spaces are becoming much more flexible thanks to design, capable of transforming with the touch of a button or a voice command.
#05 Natural Materials & Sustainable Design
Natural wall treatments like brick, limewash and polished clays are trending in designer publications and other media. The natural and organic quality of these raw finishes is part of a larger trend towards untreated materials such as bamboo, wicker, cork, wood and terracotta. Caring for the environment is now part of our collective consciousness, in 2025 the trend will be towards materials that can be part of the solution to sustainable design. Furniture, accessories and decorative objects in rattan, timber from certified forestry and other sustainable sources are going to be more visible.
#06 Local Crafts & Vintage Elements
Just like the culinary world, we are seeing a lot more emphasis on local creativity within interior design trends 2025. With foo,d it’s all about the farm-to-table trend, with furniture and design it’s going to be about specific handmade pieces that have a story to tell. That could be a vintage piece inherited through a family connection, or a gorgeous hand-crafted table and chairs made in a nearby workshop or atelier. Or perhaps an upcycled light fitting or other accessory that is given pride of place in the home. The best way to express this trend is to combine it with other elements, to create an eclectic collection of conversation pieces that fit in with the overall scale and feel of the décor.
#07 The RAW Aesthetic
Interior design trends 2025 will place more emphasis on raw, untreated materials and finishes. Starting with timber floors, the natural look means the timber is unstained without a coat of varnish or sealant. Instead, VOC (volatile organic compound) free products like natural stains are used to treat the floorboards. The look reflects the philosophy of celebrating the natural world where imperfections add character and personality. The same goes for raw finishes and fabrics like timber panelling, linens and cottons for upholstery and soft furnishings within the home. Cream, beige, brown and off-white tones provide a natural tactile colour palette to highlight these materials. This trend is here to stay and is going to be everywhere this year ahead.
#08 2025 Colour Trends
Maximalism is not going anywhere during 2025, the ‘more is more’ philosophy is here to stay for the foreseeable future. It’s not so much about stuffing every design idea you have into a space. Instead, it has more to do with adding layers of personality and coordinated decorative flourishes.

With colour, we are going to see more controlled experimentation. Last year colour saturation was trending, where all the surfaces of a room enclosure are painted in a single shade. 2025 will see a more nuanced approach with combining two different colours which adds more dimension to a space. The Pantone colour of 2025 is Mocha Mousse which has an earthy comforting quality that evokes the creamy texture of the dessert. Warm and organic shades of green in sage and jade will also be adorning homes and hospitality interiors. The prevailing mood is of warmth and natural comfort for interior design trends 2025 and the colours will help to reinforce that sensation.
#09 Japandi Style Evolution
The cool neutral tones and clean line of Japandi-style interiors are evolving into something warmer and cosier in 2025. The combination of Scandinavian modernity and the Japanese timeless aesthetic is ditching the minimalist look in favour of a richer aesthetic. It’s still pared-back but in 2025 the look is going to be more tactile and curated. That means darker woods, mid-tone colour schemes and more luscious fabrics. The effect is still focused on a calming and harmonious interior décor but with more personality.
#10 Broken Plan Vs Open Plan
The open plan is still going to be the dominant influence on home layouts and the organisation of rooms during 2025. With a slight twist. Instead of large undefined spaces that flow into one another, we are going to see more functional spaces connected visually. Arches and partitions will help separate sitting areas, formal dining areas and chill-out zones. The furniture and the décor will be slightly nuanced to reflect the function of each individual zone. The broken plan provides all the advantages of the open plan with the added benefit of catering to different activities happening simultaneously.
