Design Week Mexico 2024: A reflection on the future of design
Porcelanosa reaffirms its commitment to innovation and creativity at DWM’s flagship platform, Design House
The multinational is once again participating in this meeting point for key players in the world of design in Mexico through the presence of its products in the spaces of three prominent studios. The exhibition will be open until November 3 in Mexico City.
Design Week México and Design House 2024
The 16th edition of Design Week Mexico, under the slogan “Designing the Future”, seeks to inspire with practical and realistic solutions to the challenges of the present and the future. The event has established itself as a key meeting for architects, designers and interior designers, providing a platform where Mexican design shines at an international level. One of its main attractions is the Design House, a space where more than 30 Mexican architecture and interior design firms exhibit their innovative vision through themed spaces, highlighting the transformative impact of design.
In this edition, which runs from October 10 to November 3, Porcelanosa is collaborating with three leading Mexican design studios to create spaces that explore new ways of living and reflect the brand’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Porcelanosa materials are present in the proposals of Goldberg Interiores, Espacio Tangible and Ad Hoc, showing their ability to shape a more connected and conscious future.
Goldberg Interiores: A Sanctuary for Contemplation
Ilana Goldberg has designed a bedroom that exudes calm and simplicity. Creatively reinterpreting Porcelanosa’s PAR-KER® Smart Tanzania Nut ceramic model, Goldberg defies convention with an innovative placement that not only seeks to create trends but also to demonstrate the material’s limitless potential.
According to Goldberg, this space “has been conceived as a sanctuary of contemplation, an atmosphere of calm and reflection in its purest form, where every detail has been carefully curated to foster that feeling.”
Espacio Tangible: nostalgia for the future
María Rubio, from Espacio Tangible, presents a room inspired by mid-century aesthetics, with nostalgic touches that take as a reference iconic films such as A Clockwork Orange or the artistic vision of Wes Anderson.
Based on the idea that everything in design, interior design, art and fashion, is cyclical, instead of imagining a futuristic house full of technology, this studio defines “the real house of the future as a space for meditative reflection.”
Geometry plays a fundamental role in this design, serving as the visual skeleton that organizes and gives coherence to the space. Porcelanosa’s large-format Treviso Arena porcelain stoneware, with its finish that reproduces the texture of terrazzo, has been Espacio Tangible’s choice for the floor. Evoking this type of material commonly used in the 70s, the studio has sought to integrate retro into a vision of the home of the future.
Space 4717: a dialogue between cultures
Named after the number that represents the distance between Mexico City and Lima, capitals where the studios of Mexican designer Juan José Nemer and Peruvian architect Vera Velarde are located, this proposal explores the connection between the two countries, rescuing elements of the Olmec, Mayan, Inca and Chavin cultures.
In the bedroom and bathroom designed by the studio, the materials Alluslate®Materica by Krion® and XTONE Alpinus White, by Porcelanosa, act as canvases on which ancestral influences are projected. The design seeks a balance between the ancient and the modern, creating a timeless ambiance.
A celebration of Mexican design
The collaboration between Porcelanosa and these design studios is a sign of the brand’s commitment to the future of Mexican design. Each of the spaces stands out for its ability to reinterpret materials and forms, creating environments that are both functional and deeply aesthetic. Design House MX 2024 is an opportunity to immerse yourself in creativity and innovation, and to discover how design can transform the world around us.
