Top 10 interior design trends 2025
We invite you to take a look at our selection of the interior design trends 2025 that will define our homes in the new year.
The wait is over. With the start of the new year, we can now unveil the interior design trends 2025 that are going to mark the design and interior design for the next twelve months. You’ll see that some of the key trends are related to last year’s, while others are completely fresh and new. All of them reflect the interest in our homes as a sanctuary of wellness in the face of modern lifestyle.
In recent years, there has been a special interest in what’s hot in home decorating. This is due to the amount of time we spend in our homes. Consequently, there is a greater inclination to take care of the aesthetics and the image they project.
Therefore, in interior design trends 2025 we will see this holistic conception of our home as a place to work, relax, socialize and entertain. It is not that our homes, now, are much bigger. On the contrary, they are smaller, but we live more moments in them. Therefore, it is important that the different rooms of the house adapt to people’s routines.
We invite you to take a look at our selection of the next interior design trends that will define our homes in 2025.

#01 Minimalist large-format surfaces
Luxurious surfaces and finishes in bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and living rooms continue to dominate interior design trends 2025. Throughout this year, XLIGHT (Porcelanosa) large format tiles will continue to create a distinctive look that elevates the space beyond practical function.

By applying this trend to walls and floors, elegant, more uniform spaces with fewer joints are achieved. The XTONE brand has a select catalogue of designs that, thanks to its large pieces -up to 160 cm x 320 cm-, create large and distinguished spaces.
Thanks to a combination of rectified and large-format tiles, the surfaces are continuous and monolithic. We can see this approach expressed dramatically in ‘material saturation’. In this technique, marble-effect tiles are used to clad the wall surfaces of a bathroom, including the bathtub and/or shower cubicle. This finish can also be seen in Porcelanosa’s kitchens by 2025, both in countertops and backsplashes. This achieves a polished and sophisticated aesthetic.
#02 Tactile finishes and natural textures
Trends in interior design 2025 are not only about materials, but also about sensations. Textures -visual and tactile- were omnipresent at design fairs throughout the past year.
For example, the dark grains of wood and the stark patterns of marble add architectural gravity to surfaces. Velvet, chenille and bouclé fabrics turn upholstery and furnishings into a mix of tactile sensations, lending personality and character to spaces.
On the other hand, textured wall coverings capture light and create a play of light and shadow. Texture adds dimension and interest to our interiors: from the bedroom to the living room. And textured accessories – blankets, cushions and woven rugs – often with raw organic fabrics, are also part of this sophisticated trend.

#03 Metal furniture, finishes and accessories
Metallic finishes and accessories will continue to be a trend in interior design 2025. This type of details reflect the light in a room and attract all eyes. We could say that satin metallic finishes are replacing silver and chrome in kitchen faucets. Thus, they give a warmer and more tactile feel.
At the same time, copper and brass will also be more visible in the home next year. Unlacquered brass and matte copper with an aged patina are gaining popularity in faucets and hardware. The aged, weathered look adds vintage elegance to kitchen sinks and bathroom fixtures. The expanded palette of richly colored metals pairs perfectly with cooler silver and chrome fixtures. We will see this primarily in living rooms and bedrooms.

#04 Integrated technology
In 2025, the current trend of making technology invisible in our living spaces will continue. The elimination of visible wires, the incorporation of sensor-controlled lighting, the integration of voice- or app-driven services will radically alter our environments. Our homes are going to be even more versatile than they already are.
With the help of lighting, furniture and designer hardware, new technology is going to be increasingly present. It is also true that it will be less visually intrusive. In this way, our environments will become much more flexible, transforming at the touch of a button or a voice command.

#05 Natural materials and sustainable design
Natural wall treatments such as brick, lime and polished clays are trending in design publications and the advertising industry. The natural, organic quality of these raw finishes is part of a broader trend toward untreated materials such as bamboo, wicker, cork, wood and terracotta.
Caring for the environment is part of our collective consciousness. In 2025, it will be common to find materials that are proposed as viable solutions to sustainable design. Furniture, accessories and decorative objects made of rattan, wood from certified forestry and other sustainable sources will be the most visible options.
#06 Local craftsmanship and vintage elements
Just as in the culinary world, much more importance will be placed on local creativity in interior design trends 2025. In the case of food, this is the ‘farm to table’ trend. For design, we will be talking about specific handcrafted pieces that have a story behind them. It could be a vintage piece, an inherited piece of furniture, or a beautiful handcrafted table made in an atelier in your city. Or perhaps a lamp or other recycled accessory that has a place of honor in the home.
The best way to express this trend is to combine it with other contrasting elements. The most important thing is that everything fits with the general style and decoration of the environment to achieve a perfect match.
#07 The RAW aesthetics
The interior design trends of 2025 will put more emphasis on raw and untreated materials and finishes. Starting with wood floors, the natural look means that the wood is not stained or coated with varnish or sealer. Instead, VOC (volatile organic compound)-free products, such as natural stains, are used to treat the floorboards.
The look reflects the philosophy of celebrating the natural world, where imperfections add character and personality. The same is true of the raw finishes and fabrics, such as wood paneling, linens and cottons in upholstery and home furnishings. Shades of cream, beige, brown and off-white provide a natural and tactile color palette to highlight these materials. This trend is here to stay and will be everywhere this year.
#08 2025 Color trends
Maximalism will stay in 2025. It’s not so much about cramming every design idea you have into one space. Rather, it’s best to try to add layers of personality and coordinated decorative details.
On the color front, more subtle and balanced experimentation will predominate. During 2024 we saw chromatic saturation as a major trend. This is characterized by the use of a single hue on all surfaces in a room. In 2025, the focus will be on two-color combinations, creating more depth and dynamism in spaces.
The Pantone color of 2025, Mocha Mousse, is visually comforting and evokes the creamy, frothy texture of dessert. The warm, organic tones of sage green and jade will also adorn homes and hospitality interiors. The prevailing mood for interior design trends 2025 is warmth and natural comfort. To reinforce that feeling, colors will go a long way.

#09 Evolution of the Japandi style
The cool neutral tones and clean lines of Japandi interiors are evolving into something warmer. The combination of Scandinavian modernity and timeless Japanese aesthetics is abandoning the minimalist look in favor of a richer beauty. It’s still minimalist, but in 2025 it will be more experiential and thoughtful. That means darker woods, mid-tone color schemes and more exquisite fabrics. The effect is still focused on calm and harmonious interior decorating, but with more personality.
#10 Broken vs. open plan
Open spaces continue to influence home layout and room organization during 2025. For this year they bring a small change. Instead of large, undefined spaces that flow into each other, we will see more functional spaces that are visually connected. Arches and partitions will help separate the living, dining and sitting areas. Furnishings and décor will be slightly toned down to reflect the function of each zone. The broken floor plan offers all the advantages of the open floor plan, with the added benefit of being able to accommodate different activities/rooms simultaneously.
